Position Description:

Summary

Under direct supervision, support the execution of clinical research trials in time-critical trauma and operative environments, ensuring compliance with study protocols and regulatory requirements.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Screen and identify eligible participants in real time in acute clinical settings.
  • Obtain informed consent from eligible participants (or legally authorized representatives) in accordance with institutional policies and study protocols.
  • Coordinate with clinical teams in high-acuity environments to ensure protocol compliance.
  • Organize study participant charts and files. Distribute charts and files to appropriate location.
  • Order and maintain log of stipend checks and/or gift certificates to be distributed to study participants.
  • Generate letters to be sent to study participants.
  • Under direct guidance, assist with coordination of basic study activities.
  • Accurately compile and enter research data into specified programs or databases.
  • Compile outreach packets, recruitment and specimen collection kits.
  • Conduct thorough chart reviews to extract relevant patient information for data collection in accordance with study protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to make sound, time-sensitive decisions in a fast-paced and dynamic clinical setting.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail in fast-paced, unpredictable critical care settings.
  • Knowledge of quality control, customer service standards, information management, procedural process, and recordkeeping.
  • Computer, technical, interpersonal, oral communication, listening, and patience skills.

Position Requirements:

Qualifications

Appropriate experience may be substituted on equivalent basis.

Minimum Required Education: High school or equivalent.

Minimum Required Experience:

Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree or candidate.

Preferred Experience: Prior experience in healthcare settings or clinical environments.

Required Certification/Licensure(s): CITI Training within 90 days of hire

Physical Requirements

Work involves light exertion transporting materials or equipment but not for sustained time.

Work Environment

Occasional exposure to dust, noise, temperature changes, or contact with water or other liquids. Work is performed in an environmentally controlled environment. This position involves regular work in clinical areas such as the trauma bay and operating room and may include exposure to blood, bloodborne pathogens, and other bodily fluids, in accordance with standard precautions and institutional safety protocols.

Sensory Acuity

Ability to detect and translate speech or other communication required. May occasionally require the ability to distinguish colors and perceive relative distances between objects.
