Description

Purpose and Scope

Performs a variety of laboratory tasks including glassware maintenance and stocking laboratory supplies. Hazardous waste involvement may include, but is not limited to making waste determinations, waste packaging, container and tank management and inspection, transfer of hazardous waste between lab procedure areas, satellite accumulation and storage.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities



  • Responsible for washing and drying glassware and distributing to appropriate locations within the Development laboratory.
  • Accountable for documenting all activities and maintaining records according to good documentation practices.
  • Maintain glass washing facility, keeping it clean and organized, including picking up dirty glassware.
  • May sterilize glassware and other items using an autoclave.
  • Accountable for documenting all activities and maintaining records according to good documentation practices.
  • Accountable for proper use, care, maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
  • Perform limited troubleshooting and calibration of equipment.
  • Assist with tracking department budget for R&D functions as it pertains to the laboratory.
  • Follow all procedures applicable to job functions to ensure high quality of work.
  • Prioritize tasks and perform job duties with minimal guidance from management and complete tasks on time and work to eliminate repeat errors.
  • Work to complete tasks in an efficient manner and is a productive member of the department.
  • Participate in required annual hazardous waste training. Hazardous waste involvement may include, but is not limited to container and tank management and inspections, generation of hazardous waste as a part of production or sampling processes and transfer of hazardous waste between lab procedure area, satellite accumulation and storage. Respond to spills per the Chemical Spill Procedures.
  • Accountable for maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork, cordiality and respect towards co-workers.
  • May be responsible for representing the Analytical Development chemistry laboratory when communicating with outside departments and vendors.
  • Identify issues and escalates those issues to the department senior leadership or management, as appropriate.
  • Laboratory inventory of supplies and samples.
  • Adhere to cGMP requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.



Knowledge, Skills & Abilities



  • Understanding of quality expectations and cGMP requirements.
  • Knowledge of laboratory science principles.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite.
  • Ability read, understand and follow work instructions and laboratory test methods.
  • Ability to work independently and on a team.
  • Knowledge and experience with HPLC or GC a plus.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Access and Outlook.

Education & Experience



  • High school diploma or GED required, Associates or Bachelor's Degree in scientific discipline preferred.
  • Two years of laboratory experience in pharmaceutical industry preferred.


Working Conditions



  • Laboratory environment. Will be working with detergents, hot water, dilute acids and bases, drug products, cleaners and solvents, bio-hazardous materials, and hazardous waste.

  • Pay rate of $19.25 - $20.25/hour
