Overview

We are seeking a Wound Care Technician, sometimes referred to as a Wound Care Medical Assistant (MA), Wound Care Nursing Assistant (NA) or Wound Care ER Technician (ER Tech) in our Wound Care Department. The Wound Care Technician (Wound Care Tech) assists with wound assessment, cleansing, dressing changes, and documentation; apply wound care products and devices under supervision. The Wound Care Tech will monitor/report wound progress; prepare patients for procedures; maintain equipment/inventory; perform basic clinical tasks; and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to support comprehensive wound healing. This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PD/PRN as needed.

**To be considered for the Wound Care Technician role, candidates must have successfully completed a Medical Assistant (MA), Nursing Assistant (NA), or ER Technician (ER Tech) program.



Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • Assist with wound assessments, measure and document wound characteristics, and update electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Support wound cleansing and dressing changes by preparing sterile fields and assisting clinicians
  • Apply wound care products such as ointments, negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT), and compression dressings under supervision
  • Monitor wound healing, report signs of infection or deterioration to nursing staff or providers
  • Perform basic clinical tasks, prepare patients for procedures, and collaborate with the care team


Qualifications

Education, Experience, Training

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant, Nurse Assistant or ER Tech, or similar program
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate and maintain current

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus:

  • Previous experience in a wound care center and/or outpatient clinic
