Our Pet Segment is searching for a Transportation Manager in our Hamilton, NJ location. Plans, organizes, directs, manages, evaluates and is responsible for the operations of the transportation department. The Transportation Manager will be essential in assisting the Warehouse Manager.
MEASURES OF SUCCESS
- Direct activities related to dispatching, routing and tracking transportation vehicle fleets
- Plan, organize and manage the daily work of delivery drivers to ensure the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with organizational requirements.
- Direct investigations to verify and resolve customer or vendor complaints.
- Serve as contact person for all drivers within assigned territories.
- Conduct quarterly safety meetings with drivers
- Collaborate with other managers and staff members in order to formulate and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
- Monitor operations to ensure staff members comply with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules and government regulations.
- Promote safe work activities by conducting safety audits, attending company safety meetings and meeting with individual staff members.
- Maintains regular and punctual attendance. Work extended hours, outside of regular shift schedule, as required by operational needs.
IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES
- High School Diploma required, college degree preferred.
- Prior CDL A experience preferred but not required
- 3-5 years' prior experience as transportation manager
- Strong knowledge of DOT rules and regulations
- Billingual English and Spanish preferred
- Microsoft Office Skills (especially Outlook, Word and Excel) required
- Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and motivational skills
- Effective team building skills, proven ability to deliver strong results, strong ability to multi-task and prioritize, and the ability to effectively manage conflict, and maintain strong employee relations.
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
POSITION INFORMATION
- This position pays $85,000-95,000, depending on experience
