Job Duties:
The University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension seeks a passionate, community-focused educator to join our team in Racine County. This position will focus on strengthening families and communities through research-based parenting education and family engagement initiatives, with a special emphasis on supporting early learning, school readiness, and family resiliency, especially among families involved in the justice system. This position is partially funded by the United Way of Racine County and plays a key role in the Early Learning and School Readiness Project, which aims to strengthen parenting skills and promote healthy child development. As a part of Extension's Human Development and Relationships Institute, with a primary focus on parenting and family relationships, this position will design, deliver and evaluate educational programs and resources for parents and caregivers related to early childhood development, positive parenting, and resilient families. The Educator will provide intentional support to parents who are incarcerated or involved in the justice system through parenting education delivered in jails and prisons. This position will also collaborate with community partners to identify family needs, co-host programs in trusted locations, and build and serve as a member of coalitions that support children, parents and families. As part of our institute, this position will also contribute to statewide initiatives and research in collaboration with Extension specialists and fellow educators. The main office for this position is located in Burlington, WI and the primary programming focus is Racine County; however, some programming may also be conducted over a broader geographical area. In Person
It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Evening/Weekend Work
This position may be required to work occasional nights and weekends to meet the program needs and priorities of the communities served. Travel Expectations
It is expected that employees will make individual arrangements for transportation adequate to meet position responsibilities and essential job functions. Bilingual Preferred This position has a bilingual preferred qualification, which means a bilingual skillset is desired to bolster programming initiatives but is not required. A bilingual title designation and unique responsibility will be added to the final position description if the final candidate passes the language proficiency assessment.

The minimum annual (12 months) starting salary is $57,867, but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications. This position has a bilingual preferred qualification. Upon the successful completion of a Language Proficiency Assessment, a 'bilingual' prefix will be added to the official title. The bilingual prefix is accompanied by a $3500.00 pay increase applied to the annual salary.
