DESCRIPTION OF WORK

During the summer rotations, you will serve as traditional Engineering Support Technicians (ESTI) within the construction unit, engaging in active construction projects where they will carry out inspection and administrative tasks. Responsibilities will include inspecting roadway paving and structural projects, utilizing PennDOT mobile applications for inspections, and conducting measurements and calculations to facilitate payment processes for completed work.
In the school rotations, part-time assignments will be made to either the district bridge unit or the district plans unit as part of a design team, where tasks will involve highway and bridge design using MicroStation and other design software, assisting with field assessments for surface improvements and structure rehabilitation, and supporting the district survey unit with field surveys for roadway and structure projects.
Additionally, when assigned to the district maintenance unit, you will focus on design work for group paving projects, conduct safety reviews and analyses for design initiatives, assist with signalized intersection design in collaboration with the district signals unit, and perform life cycle analyses for District 1 assets, including guide rails and highway lighting, to aid in the development of maintenance programs. - Summer Break work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- During college breaks schedule hours TBD as available

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Current enrollment as a full-time undergraduate student in an accredited college/university in a declared bachelor's degree program and successful completion of at least sixty (60) college credits at the time of hire. Full time undergraduate students who have successfully completed at least thirty (30) college credits and anticipate the completion of at least sixty (60) college credits at the time of hire may apply for this program; or
- Current enrollment as a graduate student in an accredited college/university in a declared master's or doctorate degree program at the time of hire.
Other Requirements:

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
