Summary:

The Research Scientist II is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the life cycle of investigator-initiated research projects. This includes the development of design, initiation, conduction, analysis, and publication of clinical research projects of both a retrospective and prospective nature, as well as participation in high quality development, submission, maintenance, analysis, and publication of complex and high risk/high value medical specialty research protocols conducted at Cook Children's. The Research Scientist II simultaneously manages multiple projects at varying stages throughout the study process.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in appropriate field required (e.g., Research, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Statistics, Chemistry, etc.)

  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience, some related to complex research and/or regulatory project management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired, is required

  • Demonstrated proficiency in effectively managing data, statistical analysis and interpretation, medical and grant writing, and study design

  • Computer proficiency in word processing and Excel

  • Knowledge of medical terminology; Knowledge of principles of research and federal regulations; Excellent writing and editing skills demonstrated by publication of at least one (1) manuscript in a peer-reviewed scientific journals with an impact factor >2.

  • Strong organizational skills and be detail oriented

  • Ability to understand complex protocol design

  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal and oral, written and electronic interpersonal
