Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opportunity for a Process Manager Maintenance at our Burns Harbor, Indiana operation. The Process Manager Maintenance will manage, lead, and direct the salaried and hourly maintenance workforce across a 24-hour operation in our Finishing Division. They will drive improvements in all maintenance activities across multiple operating units. They will be responsible for safety, environment, maintenance planning, breakdown response, and downturn and outage work execution.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Manage salaried maintenance engineers, planners, and shift managers.
  • Enforce safety regulations, conduct daily safety communications, monitor monthly safety activities, and conducts safety inspections as needed.
  • Manage union craft employees who are responsible for maintaining operating equipment through time-based, conditioned based, predictive, and emergency actions.
  • Drive division maintenance metrics, including working ratio, process compliance, standards compliance, inter-departmental coordination, major downturn planning and efficiency of repairs.
  • Supervise completion of work assignments and follow established department plans.
  • Create, read, and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and develop reports to monitor compliance and improvements.
  • Resolve equipment failures during scheduled shutdowns or "breakdown" action.
  • Oversee spares inventory and contractor assigned work.
  • Oversee job orders and company policies and procedures for the maintenance department.
  • Responsible for training, development, discipline, safety programs and policies for salaried direct reports and union workforce.
  • This position may require occasional shift work to cover for absences, weekend/holiday coverage.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related technical field or combination of education / experience.
  • Three years of management experience.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of heavy mechanical and electrical equipment, processing / rolling equipment, gear boxes, line shafts, industrial power equipment - transformers, switchgear -up to 13.8kv DC&AC drives, including variable speed AC drives.
  • Experience with managing upgrade projects, leading improvement solutions and planning major outages/jobs.
  • Experience in the steel or metals industry.
