Under general supervision of the Chief Administrative Officer, Department Chairs, and Program Directors, provide analytical and administrative support for the Arts Administrative group academic personnel. Resource for academic personnel policy and practice; analyze reviews, prepare, and process actions, including appointments, merits, promotions, appraisals, recruitment, leaves, changes in status, salary adjustments, appeals, etc.; determine eligibility of academic titles for merits, promotions and appraisals and compiles/prepares dossiers. Responsible for faculty sabbatical and medical leave processing. Provide administrative and analytical support and supervision for the recruitment process for academic positions, and serve as a resource, providing advice, interpretation, and guidance regarding academic personnel issues for chairs, faculty, managers and staff. Oversee and manage the supplemental teaching budgets for the six departments in the Arts and library functions. Prepare projections, reporting and long-range planning, personnel and payroll and visa processing. Supervise Academic Personnel and library support personnel. Back-up to the CAO on all matters regarding HR and space. The HR functions include recruitment, performance management and corrective action to promote teamwork in a collaborative way. The space functions include working collaboratively with the Assistant Dean and central campus space planners on decisions affecting over 150 Arts personnel in 15 different campus buildings.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- Experience with financial administration, budget management, academic personnel and payroll.
- Experience working with academic affairs issues in an educational institution including the recruitment, appointment, and merit/promotion, retention, leave of absence, and salary administration policies and procedures.
- Experience interpreting and applying academic and staff personnel policies/procedures, regulations and laws, in a university and collective bargaining environment and using analytical skills to research and interpret data and policy, contribute to solutions, forecast the impact of potential actions, and/or recommend solutions.
- Experience interpreting, adhering to and appropriately applying relevant laws and policies and procedures in a university.
- Experience in conflict and crisis situations, using sensitivity as well as firmness to meet the needs of the situation and minimize risk.
- Knowledge using intermediate ad advanced features in computer software such as Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
- Supervisory skills to recruit, train, evaluate, motivate, resolve problems and conflicts and build an effective service-oriented team environment.

Department Overview
The Arts Unit provides administrative support to the following departments and programs: Art & Art History, Cinema and Technoculture, Design, Music and Theatre and Dance as well as the Nelson Gallery and the Shrem Museum of Art. This position will provide complex analysis in the areas of budget, finance, academic personnel administration and libraries for the Unit. Position holds a high-level of delegated authority and influence in the personnel arena. The position is responsible for roughly 60 FTE in Senate faculty and another 40 to 50 Unit 18 pre-six and continuing lecturers. During absence of CAO, has fully delegated authority in all personnel issues (both staff and faculty).
