Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Welcome Center Director, the Senior Event Manager provides administrative planning, fiscal oversight, and is responsible for leadership and supervision of the UA events unit, which manages all Undergraduate Admission recruitment and yield events, both on and off campus, to contribute meeting UC Davis's undergraduate student enrollment goals. Operating with a high degree of technical knowledge and autonomy, and in partnership with multiple event owners, leads the events team with expert management overseeing the planning, managing and executing of approximately 75 events for UC Davis Undergraduate Admissions (UA), and collaboratively hosted events which include various stakeholders, including multiple UC Campuses, the University of California Office of the President (UCOP), the Chancellor, Deans, and Vice Chancellors offices, professional schools, academic departments, student service departments, donors, authors, performers, and other important dignitaries. Supervises, trains and manages a team of 2-3 event managers. Analyses unique issues, problem solves frequently without precedent or structure. Responsible for formalizing strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources. This position functions with a high degree of autonomy. - Required to hold a valid California driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program
- Bachelors degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- At least two years of highly-visible, large-scale event management, preferably at a higher education institution. Experience overseeing events through supervision, analyzing, interpreting, and administering complex and/or ambiguous policies, procedures, principles and practices pertaining to the use of facilities, services, rates and outside contracts.
- Experience analyzing complex information or problems in an objective manner to provide a sound basis for establishing priorities, selecting appropriate courses of action to make recommendations to others and to resolve conflicts.
- Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of principles of risk management and liability, political acumen, social perceptiveness, guest satisfaction, decision making and problem solving as it relates to critical events.
- Computer experience utilizing Microsoft Office, CRM systems, web-based registration and check-in systems, web-based event management systems, and graphics programs.
- Long-term goal and strategic planning, analytical and program evaluation skills to effectively provide sound recommendations and to continually examine current systems and develop or revise to meet goals.
- Quantitative and analytical skills to prepare statistical reports, budgets and projections and to interpret reports prepared by others.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience and success in executing large scale events in a higher education setting.
- Flexibility to manage multiple responsibilities with conflicting deadlines, and priorities in a complex and diverse environment.
- Knowledge of UC and campus admission policies and procedures.

These events involve influential and important people from the campus community, California community college leaders, and all UCs.
