Job Purpose
- The Dealer Applications Unit is entrusted with managing and supporting dealers and field associates via Honda's Interactive Network (iN) and FieldLink portals. The Interactive Network (iN) is American Honda's Web-based Dealer/Distributor Communication System. It is a portal connecting AHM Mainframe/midrange backend application systems, iN frontend applications, and external Websites to dealers over the Internet. The iN portal is deployed to Automobile, Acura, Motorcycle, Power Equipment, Marine, Engine, etc. as well as Internal AHM Staff who interact and support these businesses.
- The Assistant Manager is the IT leader that oversees all dealer's business transactions across sales, service, parts, training areas for all Honda product brands. The overall mission is to support changing dealer business needs and provide solutions to support dealer operation and Honda's future growth and vision. Additionally, the position is responsible for Parts, Service, Technical dealer business transactions to various backends systems.
- The Assistant Manager is responsible for projects, system enhancements and portfolio support including SOX audits for the functional area. The Asst. Manager will provide direction and leadership and supervise technical staff in managing the operations for this area, including all aspects of the development life cycle for internal staff and outsourced projects / vendor partners. Coordination with operating divisions and IT teams for new and revised functions for application systems. Review and establish standards and methodologies necessary to provide business functionality while ensuring stability and consistency of applications offered.
Key Accountabilities
- Work together with Unit Manager and extended management team to provide input for the direction and vision of IT, the Division, Department and Unit. Contribute ideas and formulate the details on execution of Division, Department and Unit strategy.
- Build local and regional relationships and network to achieve trust and credibility, by discovering and meeting the needs of internal and external customers. Relationship partners include AHM IT, American Honda, Honda Canada business, Honda Mexico and Export unit, and external 3rd party suppliers. Use persuasion and influence to achieve maximum results with AHM IT goals
- Build and maintain a high performing IT team comprised of associate and contingent staff members. Foster's associate development and long-term capability by teaching, coaching and mentoring, integrated with consistent and effective performance management. For contingent staff, provide consistent and effective direction and governance for work techniques and work products. Ensure Team is motivated, engaged and inspired to achieve goals and objectives.
- Achieve the department goals for the Delivery Team as approved annually: including schedule, budget and quality commitments
- Define and implement the processes and methodologies to enable robust delivery and operation of complex, large-scale consumer-facing applications in a multi-partner ecosystem.
Workstyle
- At least 4 days per workweek in office at Torrance, CA. One fixed remote workday per week may be possible with prior departmental approval.
- Travel requirements: Approx 10%, largely domesticand some international

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems or computer engineering, system analysis, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Strong customer mindset
- Around 7 to 10 years of IT delivery work experience
- Around 5 to 8 years of supervisory experience
- Around 3 to 5 years managing professionals that lead teams, groups, and vendors
- Around 5 to 8 years project management experience
- Around 5 to 8 years technical management experience
- Around 3 to 5 years' experience working with business groups and enterprise organizations such as Legal, Procurement, Enterprise Architecture, etc.
- Around 2to 3 years procuring and managing outsourced and offsite partners
- Around 1 or more years budget or financial management experience
- Experience with any Dealer communications Portals (DCS) for automotive OEMS and advanced technology portals desirable
- Liferay and .NET knowledge desirable
