What We Offer
The EPS/Power Distribution Technician performs operations and maintenance on electrical power distribution, transmission and protective equipment throughout the Baytown site. Activities are performed in a safe, compliant, timely, high quality and cost-effective manner according to plan and schedule.
Responsible for the execution of preventive and predictive maintenance assignments on EPS equipment throughout the plant site. Responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing EPS equipment throughout assigned areas of the plant site. Interface with Engineering and Construction personnel to ensure successful execution of projects. Provide quality checks of relay setting sheets. Supervise and manage nested contract personnel and monitor non nested contractors on an as needed basis. Ability to work in extreme (rare) weather conditions, including hot and cold, while wearing a electrical flash suit Ability to work from heights, in a lift or on scaffold Provide coverage for Shop Supervisor as needed. Available to work extended hours and overtime, including nights, weekends, holidays, and turnarounds Maintain the highest degree of safety awareness and serve as an example for other technicians to follow. Participate in a team effort to develop and implement solutions to improve PD equipment effectiveness and reliability Confirm that work performed meets all quality standards in units of responsibility. Perform administrative duties as required. Ensure technician's time is entered correctly into SAP CATS for the week. Ensure adequate technician coverage during vacations, holidays, sick days, etc. Order parts and supplies as needed. Work closely with PD Planner, PD Engineer, and PD Supervisor to ensure that all PD work is properly planned and scheduled before the work is executed
What You Offer
Demonstrated experience working with energized electrical equipment up to 138kV The eligibility to apply for and obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) within a reasonable timeframe
8 years of previous Electrical experience in a Petro-Chemical or Utility/CoGen plant maintenance operation. Strong organizational, interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills Demonstrates a thorough working knowledge of SAP, OSI-PI Systems, Documentum, Meridium, etc Extensive experience configuring solid state three-phase protective devices/metering (SEL experience a plus) Schnieder PLC/SCADA configuration, programming and troubleshooting experience
Demonstrated knowledge of the operation, maintenance and diagnosis of power related electrical equipment (air switches, bushings, insulators, metal-clad switchgear, breakers, relays, current/voltage transformers, bushings, station power, battery and protective devices.) Self-motivated with demonstrated computer and technology skills with a proven passion to stay current with new technology developments. Good organizational and communication skills Working knowledge of NEC and OSHA
