Job Description

The Department of Sociology and Anthropology invites applications for a full-time tenure-track assistant professor position beginning August 2026. The successful candidate must show evidence of excellence in undergraduate teaching, a scholarly research program, a commitment to service such as support for the student internship program, and enthusiasm for teaching foundational courses in sociology, including Introduction to Sociology and Sociological Theory. Preference will be given to those using qualitative methodologies. We particularly encourage applications from scholars interested in collaborating with our departmental faculty including cultural anthropologists, connecting with the urban community, and engaging in public scholarship.

This is a 9-month, full-time, benefit-eligible, tenure-track ranked faculty appointment that will begin August 2026. Our academic schedules and workload provide for a positive work/life balance.

Qualifications

A PhD in Sociology or Cultural Anthropology is required. ABD candidates will be considered with a defense date set by June 1, 2026.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary is commensurate with experience and credentials.
