Summary: Goldbelt Professional Services, LLC., is looking for a Librarian II to support for CDC Library Services. This person will perform a full range of professional level library service duties.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions
- Serve as Cataloging and Metadata Librarian and subject specialist for public health and occupational safety and health materials
- Proficiently utilize the integrated library system for identifying availability of materials
- Complete requests for items held at CDC libraries
- Process and complete interlibrary loan requests
- Proficiently utilize the integrated library system and Illiad for processing and tracking requests
- Practicing good customer service techniques communicate with customers to retrieve interlibrary loan items that have not been returned on time
- Communicate effectively with non-CDC libraries to obtain interlibrary loan materials
- Update records in various databases and systems
- Communicate effectively with Electronic Resources and Serials librarians to determine if electronic resource record(s) need to be updated in CDC library catalog
- Provide reference and research services responding to requests for evidence-based literature of public health and occupational safety and health science
- Create appropriate authority records, subject headings and metadata to effectively create discovery and access to public health and occupational safety and health collections
- Identify and resolve integrated library system and database maintenance problems
- Perform original and copy cataloging, using current and emerging national and international cataloging/archival/metadata standards and practice.
- Assign MARC and non-MARC metadata effectively to expand access and discovery to public health and occupational safety and health materials for the ILS and institutional repository
- Convert and reclassify collections in subject areas
- Research and apply new techniques and technologies for cataloging e-resources
- Develop collections, identifying new books, donations, and resources within scope for possible addition to the collection
Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge
- Understanding of and the ability to define and analyze bibliographic relationships and apply bibliographic maintenance, data cleanup and/or correction procedures in the integrated library system (ILS)
- Knowledge of standard library practices, precedents and techniques shall be applied to specific cases, problems or situations and in relating new work situations to precedent ones.
- Knowledge of appropriate information technology to acquire, organize and disseminate information on a broad range of public health and occupational safety and health topics.
- Knowledge of and adherence to the best professional principles and practices of online searching including search construction and strategy, search commands and syntax, index structure, use of controlled vocabularies, natural language searching, Boolean logic, truncation, adjacency, and relevance ranking related to public health and occupational safety and health information resources.
- Ability to apply effective communication and analytic techniques for use in conducting trainings and outreach activities.
- Ability to develop and sustain initiatives that support and foster research, scientific endeavors, intellectual development and knowledge creation by developing tools and support systems.
Minimum Qualifications
- An ALA accredited master's degree in Library Science
- Minimum two (2) or more years of experience as a Librarian I.
- Possesses skill set at full Librarian level and first-line supervisory Librarian level
Pay and Benefits The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $84,000 annually. At Goldbelt, we value and reward our team's dedication and hard work.
