DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Clerical Assistant 3, you will process requests for Criminal History Record Information (CHRI) from non-criminal justice agencies, individuals via mail, and the Pennsylvania Access to Criminal History (PATCH) and use electronic databases to review, update, and respond to requests. You will interpret and apply various crime codes, active and inactive dates, and offense grading. You will also ensure that only appropriate data is released for individual and non-criminal justice agency responses. This role requires the ability to independently review and interpret complex final court dispositions and make accurate decisions concerning outcomes. In addition, you will update Pennsylvania crimes code listings in accordance with legislative changes and communicate with courts, police departments, state institutions, and other law enforcement agencies to modify and correct criminal history arrest information.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $40,685.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be willing to work on site full-time. Teleworking is not an option as part of this position's work schedule.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain an active Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Police within the probationary period and maintain the same for the duration of employment in this job.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • One or more years of customer service experience.
  • One or more years of data entry experience.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
