The Accountant I - Shared Resource plays a vital role within the Accounting team, supporting financial operations across multiple business units. This position is responsible for reconciling financial activity, managing the company's Concur expense reporting system, and providing data analysis and reporting to the executive team. Additionally, the role supports accounts payable functions, including vendor maintenance and internal control processes. Performs other projects and duties as assigned.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:

* Administer and maintain the Concur expense management system, ensuring accurate processing and compliance with company policies.

* Analyze corporate expense data and generate insightful reports for executive leadership to support strategic decision-making.

* Support accounts payable operations by managing vendor setup, maintenance, and related administrative tasks.

* Assist in maintaining and enforcing internal control procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.

* Compile and organize financial data to support the preparation of balance sheets, income statements, and other financial reports.

* Prepare and post journal entries to clear or reclassify account activity as needed.

* Participate in month-end close activities, contributing to the preparation of consolidated financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.

* Respond promptly to internal and external audit requests by gathering and submitting required documentation and reports.

* Collaborate with departments such as loan operations, deposit operations, and production teams to identify and implement process improvements.

* Prepare reconciliations for various accounts including cash, loan balances, suspense, and other general ledger accounts.

* Investigate and resolve reconciling items, escalating issues to management when necessary.

* Document reconciliation procedures and participate in cross-training initiatives to ensure team coverage and consistency.

* Provide training and guidance to Accounting Specialists on reconciliation processes and best practices.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

* Knowledge of accounting principles based on GAAP and accounting best practices.

* Detail-oriented and organized in work and ability to meet assigned deadlines.

* Self-starter with a positive attitude, good organization, and time management skills.

* Proficient in Excel.

* Basic understanding of bank and account reconciliations.

* Able to work in a fast-paced and agile environment.

* Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, and management to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results.

* Proficiency in an accounting ERP system(s) preferred.

Industry and Work Experience:

* Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience required.

* Financial institution accounting experience strongly preferred.

* Strong working knowledge of accounting functions, practices, and procedures required.

Academic:

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field required.
