Summary of Position: Work in coordination with the catering manager and catering lead on all catering functions based on business needs. Ability to assist with assigned catering events, know and understand standard procedures, equipment usage, and understand how to make decisions on catering events while assisting catering manager and catering lead. Knowledge of services and willingness to go the extra step to ensure all events are successful. To provide the highest quality food service possible in a positive and friendly manner.

This position is a non-benefit eligible position with up to 20 hours/week. Work hours will vary depending on operational needs.


Essential Functions

1. Maintain and uphold the College values of Learning, Excellence, Accountability, Diversity, Student Success,
Teamwork, Integrity, and Respect. Regular attendance is required.
2. Complete all required College training and responsible for maintaining the skills necessary to complete the essential functions of the position as defined by the department.
3. Student Success is the cornerstone of Western's culture and the college may assign employees as needed to other areas or additional duties to foster this success.
4. Food Prep/Catering Needs
* Assist with all phases of set up, service, and clean up as needed
* Ensure that all catering policies and procedure are followed in regard to operation, customer services, training and sanitation at all times
* Recognize and maintain food safety and sanitation at all times
* Monitor that work areas are clean, safe, and orderly
* Comprehension of menu and adherence to portion control
* Service to all customers in a timely manner
* Monitor that proper cooking, storage, and food handling is being followed
* Establish and maintain harmonious relationship with all co-workers
* Carry out instructions independently and provide excellent customer service
* Maintain impeccable hygiene and adhere to hygiene standards implemented by the College


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School OR HSED
Required Testing:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Carry and push food service equipment
