Job Family Description

Occupational Health and Safety personnel ensure workplace environments comply with health and safety regulations and standards to prevent accidents, injuries, and health hazards. They conduct risk assessments, regular inspections, and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions. They develop, implement, and train employees on health and safety processes, procedures, and protocols. They ensure organizational compliance with health and safety requirements from regulatory agencies. They review and provide input for hazards and controls in job safety analyses. They investigate incidents, analyze causes, and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risks that affect workers, property, the environment, and the general public.

Discipline Description

Environmental, safety & health, security & quality (ESH&Q) multidiscipline managers lead efforts to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, promote workplace safety, and protect employee well-being, the public, and the environment. The role involves developing and implementing policies, conducting risk assessments, and coordinating training programs to maintain a healthy safety culture and sustainable work environment.

Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include:

Provide oversight and clear guidance to ensure SRPPF is in full compliance with contractual, Federal, State, Company, and Site requirements.
This position is responsible for integrating and leading the critical support functions of environmental compliance, waste management, radiological protection, security, safety and health, and contractor assurance, in support of the SRPPF Project. These responsibilities include:

Managing solutions to special technical and programmatic issues in the environmental, waste management, radiological and safety programs of SRPPF.

Providing guidance and support to SRPPF to assist them in interpretation and implementation of policies, standards, and practices.

Ensuring ongoing, open and timely communication with SRNS program areas, NNSA on all significant environmental, safety, health related issues or considerations.
Maintaining close liaison with SRNS. NNSA, and SRPPF program leadership.

Developing and implementing strategies to address revised regulations or regulatory issues of serious impact to SRPPF including interacting with stakeholders to effect resolution that is cost effective and implementable to SRPPF.

Conducting independent ESS&H oversight through audits, independent safety reviews and assessments.
This position requires open and responsive communications and negotiation concerning environmental and safety issues with a variety of internal and external organizations, including SRNS/SRPPF, NNSA, DOE Headquarters, SSCDES and independent oversight committees. It is a high priority to eectively communicate SRPPF's commitment of operating the NNSA project to serve the national interests by safely supporting activities while protecting the employee and public health and the environment while producing high quality solutions.

Required Qualifications

* Fifteen or more YOE as an individual contributor in one or more of the roles managed plus six or more years of experience (YOE) in a relevant management role, OR Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field plus twelve or more years of experience (YOE) in one or more of the roles managed, OR Master's Degree in a relevant field plus eight or more years of experience (YOE) in one or more of the roles managed
* Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered

Multifunction management experience is important due to the complexity of the technical areas and the regulatory requirements for which this position is responsible for implementing. This position must be dedicated to customer satisfaction. Construction experience is also preferred.

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance.
