Postdoctoral Associate in Biomedical Science and Immunopathology Dr. Chien's Laboratory Department of Population Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences College of Veterinary Medicine Cornell University Ithaca, NY The laboratory of Dr. Chia-Ching (Rory) Chien within the Department of Population Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences at Cornell University, College of Veterinary Medicine, is seeking Postdoctoral Associate candidates. The person hired into this position will be working on projects investigating the pathogenesis and genomic characteristics of obligate intracellular bacteria, including Ehrlichia and Neorickettsia spp. We use a mouse model to study the disease pathogenesis in the mammalian hosts. We also work with blood samples collected from naturally infected animals. Most of the effort will be spent on cell cultures, molecular tests, animal studies, and associated data collection and analysis. Start date is negotiable. The successful candidate will work on this study together with other members of the team as well as collaborating with personnel across Cornell University and beyond. Ideal candidates will possess a strong background in biomedical research, with demonstrated hands-on experience in standard laboratory techniques such as cell cultures, molecular and genetic analysis, and protein analysis techniques. Additionally, we are looking for candidates who demonstrate proficiency in data collection, rigorous data analysis, and effective presentation/publication of research findings. Candidates with a Biology and Biomedical Science related Masters degree or DVM degree in addition to a PhD are preferred. This position will require attention to detail, leadership abilities, problem-solving skills, and a passion for hands-on work, and caring for research animals. Strong interest in all aspects of the scientific study process is required, and possibilities exist at Cornell University to pursue further training in research, teaching, and leadership skills. Candidates must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively in our team, as well as a willingness to learn new methods and techniques as the projects evolve. This is a one-year full-time appointment with the potential for extension contingent upon successful performance. Position expected start date in Fall 2025. Pay Range: $62,232 - $81,000.00, depending on qualifications and experience.
