About the Job

This is a standing posting to remain open throughout the 2025-2026 academic year. The percentage of appointment varies from semester to semester, dependent upon the number of courses being taught at one time. UPlan benefits are offered for positions of 50%-time (20 hours per week) or higher.

  • Serve as instructor of record for mathematics undergraduate or graduate-level courses per academic year;
  • Course assignments may range from undergraduate courses to professional masters courses in financial mathematics;
  • Prepare course materials including syllabus;
  • Deliver course content;
  • Respond to student inquiries via email, phone, or in person;
  • Grade all student materials including exams, papers, presentations and final exams;
  • Submit final grades;
  • Courses may be offered online or in person
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD degree in the mathematical sciences or a related field
  • Experience teaching university-level undergraduate or graduate math courses

Preferred Qualifications:.

  • Experience serving as the instructor of record for a university-level course.
About the Department

The School of Mathematics, located in the heart of the College of Science and Engineering, has about sixty faculty covering essentially all areas of mathematics. The School has a long history of interdisciplinary research, but is equally strong in the core areas of mathematics. Students have opportunities to participate in programs at the Institute for Mathematics and its Applications, the Minnesota Center for Financial and Actuarial Mathematics, the Minnesota Center for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, and the School of Mathematics Center for Educational Programs. PhD alumni and alumnae are spread throughout universities, colleges, industry, and national labs.

Pay and Benefits

Fixed Pay Rate: $10,609/course
