Plant Manager - Hydrogen Production Facility (Woodbine, GA) Status: Exempt (Salaried) Department: Hydrogen Plant Operations Position Summary The Plant Manager - Hydrogen Production Facility is responsible for overseeing safe, reliable, and efficient daily operations of Plug Power's Woodbine, GA hydrogen production and liquefaction plant. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this role leads the site's operations and maintenance team to achieve production targets, ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and drive continuous performance improvements. This position is central to Plug Power's mission of delivering reliable hydrogen supply to our customers and maintaining high standards of operational excellence at the facility level. Core Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day leadership for all site operations and maintenance activities, including production, utility systems, and liquid hydrogen loading.
- Ensure plant safety, environmental compliance, and adherence to all operational procedures and regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA PSM, EPA permits).
- Monitor key plant performance indicators including uptime, mass efficiency, energy consumption, and production volume; identify and resolve deviations.
- Lead and manage site personnel, including shift operators, maintenance technicians, and support contractors; build a high-performance culture of safety, ownership, and accountability.
- Execute startup, shutdown, and abnormal condition responses in coordination with engineering and central operations leadership.
- Coordinate with centralized reliability and engineering teams to support maintenance planning, critical equipment performance, and capital project execution.
- Promote continuous improvement through site-level root cause analysis (RCA), lessons learned, and implementation of updated SOPs.
- Maintain plant records and ensure operational data integrity for reporting and audits.
- Support training and development programs to improve operator skills and technical understanding.
- Serve as site point of contact for inspections, audits, vendors, and external stakeholders.
- Travel as required (up to 10%) for corporate training, coordination, or fleet meetings.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or related field) preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of operational or maintenance leadership experience in hydrogen, gas processing, chemical, or industrial plants.
- Prior experience with cryogenics, compression systems, PEM electrolyzers, or LNG/ASU systems strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of process safety, maintenance planning, and plant performance metrics.
- Proven ability to lead teams in a 24/7 plant operation environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and CMMS systems; experience with PI, DCS/PLC systems a plus.
