Company Description
The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and assisting personnel engaged in the storage, assembling, and loading of all products produced by the company. - Supervise and assist personnel in the storage, assembly, and loading of products for shipment, ensuring compliance with D.O.T. regulations and legal load limits across various states.
- Coordinate daily with Sales, Transportation, and other departments to schedule shipments and ensure availability of necessary equipment, including non-company-owned resources.
- Oversee the condition and organization of storage areas and product inventory, adjusting as needed to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
- Participate in the receiving, inspection, and disposition of inventory items purchased for resale and returned company products.
- Maintain accurate inventory records for all received and shipped products, including reconciliation of discrepancies and coordination of physical inventories and cycle counts.
- Lead and train subordinates in safety practices, housekeeping standards, inventory accuracy, and job awareness.
- Coordinate boxing of component parts into sales assemblies based on production flow, warehouse capacity, and customer demand.
- Act as liaison between the shipping department and other departments to support special projects and ensure a timely delivery service.
- Recommend and implement improvements to shipping operations, including layout optimization, packing methods, and loading techniques.
- Ensure clean and orderly work and storage areas; conduct regular inspections and schedule appropriate cleanup.
- Manage documentation and data related to shipping, receiving, and inventory transactions.
- Handle returned products, coordinate refurbishment with Quality Control and Production Finishing, and ensure proper documentation.
- Work effectively in a sometimes pressure-filled environment.
- Demonstrate a commitment to safety by wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) when entering and working in the plant.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the National Distribution Manager.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework preferred.
- 6-7 years of experience in shipping, logistics, or related field.
- Strong knowledge of shipping practices, D.O.T. regulations, and product handling.
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience in a warehouse or distribution environment.
- Ability to coordinate multiple departments and manage complex schedules.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems and shipping documentation.
- Ability to work in varying environmental conditions (heat, dust, inclement weather).
- Commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and consistently follow safety rules and procedures.
- Excellent attendance and punctuality are essential.
