Base Compensation Range: $33.89/hr - $42.42/hr

This position is eligible for an annual 10% bonus opportunity in addition to the base salary

This position supports our Calibration Solutions business. Our Calibration Solutions portfolio uses the principles of advanced metrology to enable customers to measure and calibrate critical parameters in applications such as Environmental and Process Monitoring, Dialysis, Gas Flow, Air Quality, and Torque Testing.

Job Summary

A Field Service Technician II is primarily responsible for performing installation, maintenance, routine and/or emergency service on our centralized temperature and vital parameters monitoring systems at customer sites. He/she would have intermediate to expert level product knowledge across one or multiple product platforms. He/she will report to customer sites to perform various types of field service tasks as scheduled by the project management team. He/she will have the ability to complete any project regardless of size, scope, and complexity. He/she will be responsible for pre-sale customer walkthroughs as directed by management. He/she will report directly to the Field Service Supervisor.

Duties/Responsibilities



  • Perform installation, validation, maintenance, routine and/or emergency service on our centralized monitoring systems at an efficient and expert level.
  • Perform on-site user training as part of the overall system delivery.
  • Perform intermediate scale walkthroughs at customer sites for potential business opportunities as directed by management.
  • Provide courteous and exemplary service and support to all Mesa Labs customers.
  • Required to maintain detailed field records, work orders and daily, weekly, and monthly schedules.
  • Excellent documentation practices are required.
  • Perform system qualifications to Mesa Labs standards and protocols.
  • Perform general troubleshooting techniques.
  • Work creatively, both alone and with other team members.
  • Demonstrate expertise on all Mesa products while at customer sites
  • Ensure all equipment functions to the satisfaction of the customer.
  • Mentor and train less experienced FSTs at the direction of Field Service Management.
  • Report back to Field Service Management on a regular basis and perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Comply with company ethics, code of conduct, policies, and best practices, with a commitment to safety in the workplace, valuing of diversity, and promotion of a harassment-free environment.
  • Work in accordance of the Mesa Way policies and procedures.


Experience/Education



  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associates or bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physical Science, or a Technology discipline is highly desired
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Field Service Technician in a related field is highly desired
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience


Knowledge and Skillsets Required



  • Ability to read and comprehend documents such as project and system specifications, work orders, and documentation relevant to project implementation. Ability to write reports and communicate effectively with customers and company employees
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to prioritize work according to business needs
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software; Presentation software and Word Processing software
  • Must be highly self-motivated and have the desire to be completely responsible for their own work
  • Must be well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask. Effectively and efficiently able to manage multiple time-sensitive projects simultaneously.
  • Have outstanding written and oral communication skills and be able to work directly with the customer in a courteous and professional manner
  • Computer/network knowledgeable
  • Calibration experience
  • GxP certificate preferred
  • Database (SQL and Oracle) knowledge preferred

A typical office environment and biological laboratory environment comprise the bulk of the work environment for this position. The noise level in the work environment is moderately quiet.
