Carnegie Mellon University's College of Fine Arts, School of Music, is searching for a Wardrobe Supervisor to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department through demonstrated ability in stitching, draping, pattern drafting, and wardrobe supervision.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Construction, repair, and alteration of opera costumes.

  • Crafting and implementing plans for the successful load in, daily support, and load out of the production.

  • Training students in the appropriate skills to run a show and to manage the daily maintenance of production costume pieces.

  • Other duties as assigned.

You should demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of costume machinery to include but not limited to domestic and industrial sewing machines, overlock machines, and industrial irons.

  • Sophisticated knowledge of garment construction materials, finishing methods, and garment care are vital.

  • Leadership skills, ability to listen and clearly explain/teach specific processes.

  • Multi-tasking and time management skills to complete tasks and projects according to a schedule established by the Production Manager.

Qualifications:

  • High School or GED

  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience

  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.

Additional Information:

  • This is a part-time (20 hours per week), position.

  • Work Schedule: This position will require daytime, evening and weekend hours based on the varying needs of the production throughout the process.
