The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering ranks among the best in the country. Our research programs are at the forefront of the technologies that have changed the world we live in. Our interdisciplinary approach to education and research allows faculty and student across the university and beyond to collaborate on problems that have a significant impact on the world around us. The ECE Department, part of the College of Engineering, is a large and diverse academic community, and includes global research and teaching efforts through extensions of our Pittsburgh academic programs and research in Silicon Valley, Portugal, Africa, and Thailand.

The Personal Care Associate shall assist with physical tasks that arise during the workday for a department head. The tasks include, but are not limited to, assisting with coat, retrieving items, and escorting to reach certain campus locations. Additionally, may provide some administrative assistance; assists with the workflow within the department head office. May act as a liaison or contact person with other university departments, i.e., Budget Office, Registrar, Property Management, Human Resources, etc., and with outside organizations. Assists in the research, preparation, and processing of information. May oversee student workers through distribution of work and review of work progress. Recognizes the opportunity for process improvement and participates in the implementation. Attends various meetings within the department. Provides administrative assistance such as coordinating or setting up logistics and resources for meetings and events, maintaining calendars, and handling other documents for supervisor's signature and/or approval. Performs related work and special projects as assigned. May be asked to participate in some work-related travel.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for picking up and delivering different items from/to various locations on campus, carrying equipment or other heavy materials up to 50 lbs. up the stairs, and pulling/pushing carts up to 150 lbs.
  • Assisting with transporting materials and computing equipment to lectures and meetings.
  • Assisting with the setup of computing equipment, disconnecting, and returning the equipment.
  • Providing administrative assistance such as coordinating or setting up logistics and resources for meetings and events, maintaining calendars, and handling other documents for supervisor's signature and/or approval

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 0-1 years' experience
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.

  • Successful background check
