POSITION SPECIFICS Penn State Scranton is excited to welcome applications for the position of Coordinator of Student Activities. The Student Engagement Specialist is part of the Student Services and Engagement team including Career Services, Health Services, Student Care and Conduct, Counseling Services and Athletics. This position helps students develop and achieve realistic goals for the academic year and assists them in achieving balance between academic and co-curricular activities, as well as promote their academic, personal, and professional development; work with internal and external partners to create programs, resources, tools, and events that provide meaningful engagements at all institutional levels; supports student learning and provides high quality out-of-class experiences for students through student activities, leadership development, community service, multicultural programs, and trips. The coordinator will lead vibrant Alternative Break programs and connect students with service opportunities in the local northeast communities plus coordinate programs across the United States and internationally.
A demonstrated history of leadership and knowledge of student development is preferred. Applicants should have experience working with a diverse student body and show evidence of creating practices that improve belonging. The successful candidate should communicate clearly both verbally and in writing and demonstrate the ability to work effectively with people of all backgrounds. Applicants should have basic technological skills and the willingness to learn new technology. The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong attention to detail, the ability to multi-task, and possess a proven track record of working effectively within a team environment. MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree 1+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: NoneBACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
