Job Details:
Mercer University is searching for a Student Affairs Specialist for the College of Pharmacy on the Atlanta campus.

Responsibilities:

The Student Affairs Specialist serves as the first point of contact for all students (prospective, admitted, and currently enrolled), faculty, staff, and other internal and external constituents. The Student Affairs Specialist is granted autonomy in completing certain critical and ongoing tasks that support the recruitment and enrollment of students within the College.

The Student Affairs Specialist provides administrative support for communications and events. The position prepares and disseminates student affairs communications to students and faculty. This position assists with planning and managing events including white coat, pinning, hooding, honors and awards, commencement and new student orientation. This position audits and maintains a database of information from newly admitted students for use by other College departments used for credentialing. Other duties of this position include budget management for student services, providing administrative support for the teaching and service activities of the Associate Dean for Student Affairs, and receptionist duties related to the Office of Student Affairs and Admissions.

The Student Affairs Specialist is responsible for coordination of Professional Development Hour speakers, weekly attendance records, and auditing student professional activities.

In fulfilling the duties above, this position must utilize appropriate software including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office suite, Zoom, Slate CRM, the College's learning management systems (e.g., Canvas), the University's CampusNexus and CampusVue systems and online survey software.

Qualifications:

Two years of prior administrative support experience to include customer service and working with databases and web-based platforms OR an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Candidates with a bachelor's degree and/or prior experience in higher education in an admissions and/or student affairs/student services office, prior event planning experience, prior database management experience, and/or prior budgeting experience are highly desirable.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to organize and prioritize multiple and complex tasks and work on multiple projects simultaneously, completing projects and tasks accurately and efficiently, under pressure and with interruptions, achieving goals and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and utilize problem solving and critical thinking skills necessary to locate and correct issues in admissions and student affairs processes to create and maintain quality control in applicant and student databases.
  • Has comprehensive computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), databases, CRM and centralized application services (preferably Slate, CAS systems), web-based platforms/software (e.g., Zoom), learning management systems (preferably Canvas, ExamSoft, and CampusNexus), and graphic design.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as ability to give presentations.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all work.
  • Excellent grammar and punctuation.
  • Ability to independently determine logistics (organize and anticipate problems in advance and prepare solutions) when planning large events involving 250+ people.
  • Possesses a general understanding of student affairs.
  • Possesses sufficient office administrative skills to effectively handle administrative and database management tasks.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information and materials received in the office.
