Lead, Process Safety

Job Description:

The Lead Process Safety Engineer will be a key member of the support process safety team to provide comprehensive technical process safety support to ensure safe operation for all asset types at Entegris. The senior process safety manager will use a set of tools and methodologies to ensure compliance to meet the Entegris process safety criteria and policies.

Responsibilities:

Accountable for supporting the implementation, management, and continuous improvement of the Process Safety Programs (PSP) for all Global sites. Responsibilities include implementing, coordinating, and executing the Process Safety program elements, providing regulatory guidance to all elements of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119 and equivalent non-US programs, developing tools to identify and mitigate process safety risks, and sharing learnings and corrective actions.

  • Lead Process Hazard Analysis
  • Provide regulatory compliance guidance for the Process Safety Programs for all global sites. Advise and assist Site Leaders, Managers, Supervisors, Engineers, and EHS Representatives to ensure that the sites operate within company policies, procedures, and performance standards.
  • Drive the development, execution, and continuous improvement effort of site policies and technical guidelines associated with the Entegris Process Safety Program elements (e.g., Process Hazard Analysis, Management of Change, Contractor Management, Process Safety Information, etc.) to assure compliance.
  • Challenge and provide feedback and guidance to Process and/or Production personnel to develop and implement solutions that mitigate potential process safety hazards.
  • Continually improve the Corporate Process Safety Program Procedures and provide guidance on site-specific procedures, as necessary.
  • Conduct incident investigations and facilitate Root-Cause Analysis (RCA) sessions.
  • Collaborate with the Site Operations leadership and engineers to scope and prioritize capital improvement projects to improve process safety.
  • Develop process workflows to identify and maintain Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP).
  • Monitor regulatory changes, publicly available information, and significant incidents at plants.
  • Provide training for the corporate Process Safety Programs to the Site employees.
  • Drive organizational accountability through robust monitoring and reporting of management action items. Manage the Document Control (EtQ) database to track action items from inception to completion.
  • Collect and analyze process safety KPIs, providing results to the Corporate Leadership Team to help assess the effectiveness of our Process Safety Programs.
  • Arrange for contract services to support Process Safety-related activities, as required.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college/university is required. Demonstration of equivalent relevant experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years (10+ years preferred) of experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) programs in a chemical manufacturing environment is required.
  • Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations and independent engineering standards (e.g., ANSI, ASME, etc.) with an emphasis on Process Safety Elements and Risk Management program elements is required. Experience with non-US equivalent process safety programs, such as COMAH, Seveso, KOSHA PSM, etc., is desired.
  • Possess a working knowledge of the common chemical industry process safety policies, procedures, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Credentials as a Certified Safety Professional, Process Hazard Analysis Team Leader, or Process Safety Professional are desired.
  • Experience in driving cross-functional activities requiring specialized skill sets and expertise (e.g., PSM Audit teams, Incident Investigation teams, etc.).

  • Demonstrated expertise in the successful delivery of outstanding results through effective process safety program development and implementation.
  • Strong "consultant" skills, including the ability to influence and motivate leaders and employees through collaborative engagement and building/maintaining relationships.
  • High energy, motivation, and commitment to take personal ownership of issues and drive them to exceptional outcomes.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate information to a broad range of people and audiences as circumstances dictate.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical reports and regulatory documents/standards, make sound judgments, and offer effective solutions.
  • Ability to successfully manage and develop personnel in remote locations and work in a team environment across a multi-site organization with a variety of cultures.
  • The ability to travel up to 20% of the time is required.

Physical demands:

Must be able to successfully and safely work under various conditions that are commonly experienced within a plant or field environment, including (but not limited to) the following:

  • Walking/climbing ladders or stairs to access and observe plant equipment and practices.
  • Entry/exit of confined or cramped spaces
  • Use of various forms of personal protective equipment, including respirators, as required.
  • Noisy environments
  • Hot, cold, and other inclement conditions
