SCHIE delivers the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Teams, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform globally with our server and data center infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability solutions. To achieve this goal, the Cloud Hardware Systems Engineering (CHSE) team is instrumental in defining, delivering and maintaining cutting edge cloud server hardware across all of Azures business groups. CHSE works closely with internal and external partners to deliver best-in class cost and quality to our customers. We are looking for a Senior Power Hardware Engineer to join the team.
ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement advanced electrical systems and energy management solutions for hyperscale and enterprise data centers. Lead power system architecture and design including power distribution, UPS, switchgear, in-rack AC/DC, and DC/DC power solutions and integration with renewable sources and battery storage. (BBUs and Power Conditioning Units).Collaborate with suppliers, industry partners, product managers, and cross-functional engineering teams to define system requirements and specifications. Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE, UL) and support certification processes. Perform simulations, modeling, and validation of power and control systems using tools like MATLAB/Simulink, ETAP, or PSCAD. Perform simulations, modeling, and validation of AC/DC, DC/DC, DC/AC SMPS converters using tools such as SIMPLIS, SPICE, PSIM, and PLECS Support project execution from concept through production, including technical documentation and troubleshooting. Support PDU's, UPS's, Power conditioners, Circuit Breakers, Bus Bars, Battery Backup, ATS's in all stages of development Support creation of product specifications Support testing/test planning of all solutions in all stages of development.
