ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

- Understand and implement the procedures and policies set forth in the CCS Quality Management System Manual, FAA Repair Station and Quality Control Manual, EASA Supplement, CAAC Maintenance Management Manual and JCAB Approved Organization Exposition, CCS Quality Procedures, and CCS Safety/Environmental Procedures.
- Demonstrate ability to increase efficiency and productivity, while maintaining the required level of quality.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TASKS:
- Perform CMM operation and programming functions in accordance with approved data such as the Original Engine Manufacture Manuals, the customer's manual, or CCS Approved Data.
- Ensure the CMM equipment used is in good working condition and the calibration is maintained in current status during operational use.
- Properly document the development and implementation of new CMM programs to substantiate their implementation on a routine basis.
- Fine tune and troubleshoot CMM equipment programming issues to ensure the proper outcome.
- Keep CMM software utilized at Chromalloy Component Services, Inc. updated and properly backed up on the Local Area Network.
- Determine the best approach to solve CMM programming problems as they appear; take ownership of projects and work projects through to completion in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate a good mechanical aptitude.
- Display an attitude that promotes teamwork and cooperation between the engineering, quality, and production departments.
- Cross-train to become proficient in all CMM functions utilized at this facility.
- Maintain clean, orderly, and safe working conditions in the CMM programming area.
- Assist with process improvement activities with this repair station.
- Train and assist personnel in the proper work procedures and practices to be followed.
- Ensure the proper handling and preservation of components throughout the CMM inspection process.
- Ensure that all inspections are performed and properly documented in ink.
- Know how to read and use calibrated inspection, measuring and test equipment, such as but not limited to vernier calipers, height gages, pi-tapes, plug gages, dial calipers, dial indications, protractors, radius gages, hardness testers, dial bore ages, thickness ages, omni gages, micrometers, etc.
- Continually look for ways to increase efficiency and productivity, while maintaining the required level of quality.
- Ensure the proper utilization of the Chrome System.
- Ensure the continuity of inspection responsibility, assuring completion of required inspection when personnel shift or assignment changes occur.
- Assist Engineering Representatives in the introduction of new repairs and/or techniques to facilitate repairs and/or repairs to components.
- In conjunction with Engineering and Production Representatives, continually review the process routings to optimize the workflow throughout the CMM inspection process.
- Demonstrate the ability to compare recorded measurements to dimensional requirements and report the findings.
- Effectively operate the Coordinate Measuring Machine.
- Develop and implement new "basic" CMM programs for components.
- Report to the NDT Manager any system deficiencies that may result in the release of unairworthy articles or the use of unapproved material.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the NDT Manager or Director of Quality.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Broad CMM working knowledge.
- Solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and ability to utilize interpretation of standards such as ANSI Y14.5.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of the finished part, sequence of operations and set-up requirements.
- Ability to read blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances.
- Ability to perform advanced set-ups and train CMM operators in proper operations of such.
- Knowledge of measuring techniques, procedures, and terminology.
- Working knowledge of applicable technical publications.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and safety manuals.
- Ability to write routine technical reports and correspondence for internal communication purposes.
- Ability to effectively communicate with peers, subordinates, supervisors, and management personnel.
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to work with limited supervision.
- Ability to read, speak, write, understand, and verbally express ideas and instructions in the English language.
- Solid computer skills including quality applications, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Have a basic understanding of Geometry and Trigonometry principles and methods.
- Use of a 6-inch caliper and a torpedo level for article and probe setup.
- The importance of the proper handling of probe components - Probe Head, TP20 module, TP20 extension, stylus extension, ruby stylus.
- Probe construction and calibration.
- Traceability of measurement equipment in particular the master spheres and ring gages.
- Use of the CMM Program Log and choosing the correct program to run when given multiple options.
- Starting programs in CAMIO and CMES and a basic understanding of the software interface - buttons, tabs, pop-up windows.
- Use of written part setup instructions along with the Excel part setup files to ready the parts for inspection on the CMMs.
- Recognizing CMM errors and responding correctly.
- Reviewing reports for obvious errors and recognizing problems.
- Basic understanding of the X, Y, Z axes and Cartesian coordinates.
- Basic interpretation of GD&T.
- Ability to use and the use for certain additional Precision Measuring Equipment such as the optical comparator.
- Understand GD&T principles such as flatness, parallelism, perpendicularity, circularity, profile, true position.
- Thorough understanding of Cartesian and Polar Coordinates and the translation and rotation of the X, Y & Z axes.
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of trigonometry and vectors.
- Able to convert CMES programs into Camio and/or PC-DMIS.
- Use CAD models to create programs.
CERTIFICATES REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- CMM Programming experience and/or certifications- Software: CMES, CAMIO, PC-DMIS
- Minimum 2 years' experience
