DESCRIPTION

The Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Science is dedicated to creating and promoting public health innovations to advance equity, justice, and wellbeing for all. The School focuses on health, diversity, inclusion, and social equity in everything we do. We believe this starts in the workplace, where we actively strive to ensure a sense of belonging for everyone and honor the idea that through our differences, we are better together. In working to fulfill that vision, we are comprised of more than 125 primary appointed faculty and academics, 200 staff members, and 25 secondary appointed faculty and provide mentorship and instruction to 750+ BSPH undergraduate major students and 225+ postgraduate students across six degree programs as well as a clinical residency. We conduct research and instruction in public health disciplines such as Biostatistics and Bioinformatics, Climate & Environmental Health, Community Health Services & Preventive Medicine, Epidemiology, Global Health, Health Behavior, Health Equity & Justice, Health Policy, Public Mental Health & Substance Use, and Technology & Precision Health, totaling ~$255M in grants and contracts and housing five research service cores. We engage in research and teaching collaborations across the University and the community at-large. Partnerships with the community and with health agencies are fundamental to the School.

The Health Services Research Center provides program evaluation and research services to a variety of health research projects. Under the general direction of senior researchers, individual provides scientific guidance and assistance with implementation, design and monitoring of a field site / study including but not limited to environmental, public health, social or biological science disciplines. The position will provide input and consultation to program evaluation activities and health outcomes measurement for San Diego County Behavioral Health Services (SDCBHS) and other project partners with a high degree of autonomy. Individual will independently interact with multiple behavioral health service programs and staff through training in the administration of outcome measures, providing technical support and maintenance of protocols. The individual will work with the Study Director and staff to identify and recommend improvements in current outcomes and data gathering to the study. Individual is responsible for leading teams to analyze data and create reports documenting program outcomes to be distributed for SDCBHS and other stakeholders. The position will also supervise other team members who will be interacting with stakeholders, collecting data, and performing statistical analysis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Seven (7) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus three (3) years of related experience/training.

  • Thorough knowledge of safety, legal, cultural and regulatory requirements relative to field research responsibility.

  • Thorough knowledge of research discipline, principles, concepts, analysis and/or operations being conducted at field/remote sites. Proven experience and knowledge of program evaluation and behavioral health outcome measures.

  • Thorough knowledge of local customs and operations at field/remote sites.

  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strategic relationships and partnerships with remote research partners.

  • Proven ability to work independently and with a team, and to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

  • Strong attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

  • Proven ability to work in ambiguous conditions and take relevant responsible action as required.

  • Strong research and analytical skills.

  • Strong communication skills with research partners and project team members. Excellent professional interpersonal communication skills working with diverse populations in person, in writing, and on the telephone.

  • Strong computer literacy and word processing skills with ability to use spreadsheet software.

  • Proven ability and experience writing reports, correspondence, and spreadsheets.

  • Proven ability to work in a busy environment in a timely and effective manner.

  • Proven experience developing and performing administrative duties.

  • Proficient in maintaining thorough files and confidential records according to research practices and protocols.

  • Advanced knowledge of SPSS, STATA, SAS and/or other software packages for data analysis.

  • Demonstrated experience working with databases or innovative data visualization techniques.

  • Demonstrated experience administering the CA Consumer Perception Survey and/or the Treatment Perception Survey.

  • Demonstrated experience administering neuropsychological tests via C3 Logix software.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Advanced degree in applied psychology, public health, or in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $65,800 - $115,000 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $31.51 - $55.08

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
