POSITION SPECIFICS

The Eberly College of Science is seeking an Academic Advisor - Senior Professional to be part of an advising team focused on students in academic warning/suspension/recovery in the College and students pursuing the majors of Premedicine and Integrative Science in the Eberly College of Science. Duties will include providing academic advising to students in the College who are in academic difficulty as well as to assigned students intending the premed/integrative science majors, assisting students in navigating University policies and procedures and program curriculum, and coordinating special events and programs which directly assist undergraduate students.

The selected candidate will also be responsible for the following:

  • Work with all students in the Eberly College of Science in the academic recovery process to assist them in navigating academic warning, suspension and dismissal processes, communicating expectations for academic recovery in the college and assist in identifying vulnerable students who may be headed for academic difficulty.
  • Coach and provide students with student in academic recovery with resources to assist in their recovery process.
  • Assist in updating and maintaining the Academic Success website for the Eberly College of Science.
  • Teach first-year seminar for students interested in the Premedicine and/or Integrative Science majors.
  • Assist assigned students in navigating university policies and procedures and program curricula.
  • Assess student interests, values, and abilities as they relate to their educational and/or career goals.
  • Coordinate special events and programs for the college (e.g., New Student Orientation, NSO College Meeting, Welcome Day).
  • Meet with prospective students/families for recruitment efforts as needed (e.g., Spend A Summer Day, Admitted Student Events).

A background in science is desired. Experience with academic warning advising is not required but will be given preference. The successful candidate will have a strong background in academic advising with a proven track record and a commitment to serving diverse student populations. Other essential skills include attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication, and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Canva. Applicants with experience working with students in academic difficulty are especially encouraged to apply.

Additional Information:

The successful candidate will work as part of a team in the College committed to providing support to students in academic difficulty. They will work closely with the Director of the Science Advising Center, the Directors of the Premedicine and Integrative Science majors and the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Students to support the mission of academic recovery advising. We are seeking an individual who is committed to working with the advising team to provide high quality service to students and who will work to enhance the climate for the diverse student population in the College.

This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work. Occasional evening and weekend hours required for special event staffing. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Master's Degree 6+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $56,200.00 - $81,500.00.
