Job Title:Safety Coordinator

Location:Houma, LA

Position Overview: The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for implementing the company's safety program and monitoring the facility and processes for adherence to OSHA guidelines and the elimination of industrial accidents. Coordinates with workforce throughout facility to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. Develops solutions and action plans to address facility safety and health issues. Also, performs various activities to promote facility maintenance of safe and healthy work conditions through supervisors and employees. Supervises an Environmental Representative that manages the facilities waste and air, water, and dredging programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance to ensure facility equipment and conditions comply with safety regulations.
  • Monitor on-site activities and enforce OSHA and safety regulations to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, compliance activities, and incidents.
  • Collaborate with team members to foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Investigates accidents to determine a cause and suggest/implement prevention methods.
  • Conducts periodic facility audits to ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for developing, maintaining, and training on the facility safety programs/plans such as: LOTP, Fire Prevention, Hazard Communication, Fall Protection, Confined Space, JSA/SPIP, etc.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance for handling, storage, and disposal of waste; to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Point of contact for HSE initiatives.
  • Conduct and coordinates HSE meetings and trainings.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance for the handling, storage, and disposal of waste; manages air, water, waste, and dredge programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.


Experience:



  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in safety compliance.


Skills and Abilities:



  • Strong Program Management Skills.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations within a maritime industry.
  • Must be highly motivated.
  • Must have a proven track record in managing facility safety issues and experience in coordinating safety inspections, trainings, and meetings.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and implement initiatives to assist in achieving facility HSE goals.
  • Must possess basic computer skills with MS applications (i.e. MS Word/MS Excel).
  • Must have strong communication and people skills.
