Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dependable
Construction Foreman
to lead field operations for sewer and water excavation projects. This hands-on leadership role will oversee daily job site activities, manage
a team of 3+
crew members, ensure safety and compliance, and keep projects on time and within scope. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in underground utility work, especially related to water mains, sewer lines, and stormwater systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily work activities of crew members on sewer and water excavation projects.
- Read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and utility maps.
- Ensure proper installation and connection of water and sewer lines according to specifications and local codes.
- Operate and oversee the use of heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, and backhoes.
- Conduct safety meetings, enforce company and OSHA safety standards, and ensure a clean, safe job site.
- Monitor project progress, troubleshoot issues, and communicate updates to project management.
- Maintain accurate records of labor, materials, equipment usage, and job site conditions.
- Liaise with inspectors, subcontractors, and utility companies as needed.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate crew members to ensure quality workmanship and productivity.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years construction experience
- Ability to operate excavator machine
- Strong leadership skills
- Strong problem solving and communication skills
- Ability to shift priorities
Preferred
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience in sewer and water excavation, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Strong understanding of underground utility installation practices and safety protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Proficient in operating construction equipment related to excavation work.
- Knowledge of local and state regulations for sewer and water systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Valid driver's license (CDL preferred).
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and performing physical labor.
- Able to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
