We have an exciting Veterinary Assistant opportunity in Guymon, OK. The Veterinary Assistant will plan, assist, and coordinate veterinary services and animal operation teams. Responsible for training, diagnostics, and research to achieve the highest quality animal health and well-being.

RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Collection of biologic specimens that include but are not limited to tissue, oral fluids, blood, and feces for clinical case diagnosis and herd health monitoring. Handle, ship and dispose of specimens within applicable guidelines.
  • Execute veterinary research including literature review, drafting protocols, and data entry.
  • Educate employees of various departments on veterinary processes including but not limited to biologic specimen collection, biosecurity, and oral controlled exposure through organized training sessions.
  • Audit on-farm veterinary processes and records to maintain compliance with federal, state, industry and company policies and procedures including antibiotic use.
  • Assist Veterinary Lab Specialist with inoculum production. Additional administrative duties as assigned by Senior veterinarian.
  • Additional projects and development will be determined by the Senior veterinarian.

QUALIFICATIONS



Required:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Medicine and Husbandry or Associate of Applied Science Degree in Veterinary Technology from AVMA accredited veterinary technician education program.
  • Proficiency in anatomy and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to become a Pork Quality Assurance (PQA) advisor.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is commonly exposed to airborne particles and gases at low concentrations.
  • The employee is frequently exposed to waste material, feed and hog dust.
  • The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. After-hours, weekends, and overnight travel as requested.
