Job Description

YOUR OPPORTUNITY


We have an exciting Food Safety (FS) Pre-Requisite Program (PRP) Specialist opportunity in our Guymon processing facility. In this highly impactful role, you will be a key member of the food safety and quality assurance team that monitors the quality and food safety in a processing facility harvesting over 21,000 animals per day. The FS PRP Specialist will monitor and audit the essential practices and conditions required for the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) plan. Additionally, this position performs daily audits to ensure the Company's pre-requisite programs serve as the foundation for effective food safety management and are executed to ensure safe food production.

RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Support the effectiveness through monitoring and auditing of the food safety and HACCP programs including good manufacturing practices (GMPs), sanitation standard operating procedures (SSOPs), personal protective equipment (PPE) checks, equipment checks, and pest control management.
  • Ensures corrective actions are taken and implemented when an issue is identified that the program has failed to prevent a hazard within the production process
  • Verifies through established audits that prerequisite programs used to support hazard analysis decisions are in compliance.
  • Maintains documentation for compliance with Seaboard's HACCP plan, including supporting documentation.
  • Evaluates the Seaboard's programs routinely to make changes if necessary and collaborates with the food safety team to ensure food production is adhering to the established programs.
  • Complete and thorough understanding of new and current federal, state, and local regulations that affect food safety requirements associated with manufacturing, processing and packing, distribution, etc., (HACCP, SSOPs, GMPs).

QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's degree in a science, engineering, or related discipline with two (2) years of progressively responsible positions or five (5) years of progressively responsible positions in the protein industry.
  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of current and application of USDA and FSIS directives and regulatory requirements.
  • Must have adequate experience to demonstrate thorough knowledge, skills, and abilities of both commercial and technical aspects related to FSQA for the pork business.
  • Additional essential duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move around the facility and primarily will be on the production floor.
  • The employee must regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • This position is primarily on the production floor and will have limited office time.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; and is exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment requires you to wear hearing protection at all times on the production floor.
  • The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. After-hours, weekends, and overnight travel as requested.
