Position Summary
The CAES Instructional Designer plays a key role in advancing the College's strategic goals for online learning by supporting faculty in the design and delivery of high-quality, accessible online courses and certificate programs. In particular, this position will assist the CAES Director of Online Learning & Educational Technologies with designing and delivering training sessions; work one-on-one with faculty to assist with designing their online courses and consult on course design and implementation issues, incorporating best practices and theories of online curriculum and course design.
This position reports to the CAES Director of Online Learning & Educational Technologies. This position is full time and home based on the Athens Campus. Instructional support and occasional travel to the Tifton and Griffin campuses is expected.

  • Familiarity with curriculum and course development.

  • Author WCAG 2.0 Compliant HTML content.
  • Experience with project management tools (e.g., Asana, Monday.com, Trello).
  • Experience with a variety of technology tools (e.g., Desire2Learn, Google Apps, Office365, Kaltura, Adobe CC).
  • Demonstrates and utilizes effective needs analysis, project management, course development, and evaluation skills.

  • Apply instructional design theory, research, and emerging technologies to create effective online learning experiences.
  • Design and develop instructional materials aligned with measurable learning objectives.
  • Support the design and development of online certificate programs in collaboration with faculty and the Director.
  • Create formative and summative assessments to measure student achievement.
  • Collect and organize course-level data to support quality assurance and continuous improvement.
  • Identify and respond to ethical and legal implications of instructional design.

  • Analyze course alignment and recommend improvements to enhance instructional clarity and coherence.
  • Define the scope of instructional design projects based on desired outcomes.
