Job Description

Claims recovery (subrogation) identifies, takes action on, and recovers funds owed to the company and its customers through subrogation processes from adverse carriers, uninsured responsible parties, and companies deemed liable. These processes require the incumbents to maintain a great deal of knowledge, possess excellent investigation and negotiation skills, and have the ability to maintain individual state legal and regulatory compliance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Conducts subrogation processes on claims files; including sending demands, negotiating settlements, properly recovering all eligible coverages, recognizing the need for arbitration or litigation, utilizing vendors, etc.
* Works in the claims system daily.
* Prepares and handles the next step of intercompany arbitration or subrogation litigation. Works with vendors, where applicable, to ensure the maximum recovery and verifies their efficiencies in following our philosophy.
* Works files to their full extent before subrogation litigation consideration.
* Becomes familiar with state negligence laws and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. This involves being analytical to identify recovery opportunities, while considering overall claims exposures.
* Works productively on an individual level and as part of a team to achieve success in subrogation.
* Learns all the applicable state laws and statutes for a particular inventory/region, as assigned, as well as be familiar with compliance regulations and internal processes.
* Works with judicial agencies in each state to recover ordered restitution.
* Serves as the backup or support to the claims staff in the event of a catastrophe and/or seasonal events that task the ability of claims to service clients.

QUALIFICATIONS:
* High school diploma or a GED.
* Two years of claims and/or subrogation experience or equivalent work experience.
