Subject Matter Expert - Director of Advanced Technologies
Purpose:
- Valkyrie Enterprises has an immediate need for a Subject Matter Expert - Director of Advanced Technologies to who will define and lead company technology efforts with a focus on Directed Energy and emerging technologies.
Job Description:
- Provide insight into emerging technologies and practical gaps
- Identify Valkyrie equities and contributions to fill technology, integration and fielding gaps
- Develop roadmaps, investment plans, customer engagement plans and solutions
- Contribute to white paper and proposal writing for solutions
- Execute customer contacts and shape opportunities with company BD and Line staff
- Lead technical projects and integration efforts. Coordinate across Valkyrie Operations.
- Advise Valkyrie Operations on the implementation of Directed Energy representations and solutions into Modeling and Simulation, Kill Chain Analyses, MBSE architectures, and facility integrations.
- Perform technical analysis, modeling and simulation and experimentation.
- Translate systems/capabilities/algorithms into models to support integrated system performance analysis.
- Derive equations for Electro-Optical and Infrared (EO/IR) and radar cross section signatures using fundamental theory.
- Explore closed form solutions of EO/IR and Radar signatures for simplified geometries.
- Develop and test coded implementation in software such as python, C+, C#, Java.
- Collaborate with Valkyrie Product Developers to implement digital and physical content supporting the Directed Energy and EOIR communities.
- Plan and conduct trade studies, analysis of alternatives, and capability analysis.
- Support multi-discipline physics and engineering activities across the span of activities above beyond Directed Energy.
- Collaborate continuously and mentor team members and others.
- Continually learn and improve based on focused feedback.
Qualifications:
- Must have a PhD Science, Engineering, Technology or Math and at least 10 years of experience.
- Must have the ability to implement threat, sensor, or weapon functionality/algorithms into M&S.
- Must have the ability to conduct research and perform analysis on requirements, capability, and operational effects.
- Must be proficient with Python, Matlab, C+, C#, Java, or similar programming languages or be able to develop specifications and requirements documents for software and hardware products.
- Must have a passion for solving problems and providing workable solutions.
- Must have strong analytical and reasoning skills and ability to visualize processes and outcomes.
- Must have outstanding all-round communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
- Must have experience with Directed Energy, electro-optics, infrared, radar frequency (RF), or relevant fields.
- Must have experience in modeling and/or assessing Directed Energy, EO/IR and RF targets and countermeasures.
- Must have experience with Directed Energy EO/IR and RF modeling and analysis.
- Experience with Optical Signatures Code/OPTISIG EO/IR codes is preferred.
- Must be highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
- Must have proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
- Must have strong customer service orientation.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with Directed Energy technical and operational communities such as DE Working Group (DEWG), Joint Directed Energy Transition Office (JDETO), Director, Operational Test and Evaluation (DOT&E) Joint Technical Coordinating Group for Munitions Effectiveness (JTCG/ME), etc.
- Prefer experience with real-time M&S and HWIL testing.
- Prefer experience with NSWC Dahlgren Division, PEO IWS 11 and the Navy Directed Energy community.
- Prefer experience with Missile Defense Agency.
- Prefer experience with Army programs (Aviation and Missile Center, Space and Missile Defense Command).
Security Requirements:
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance.
- Prefer an Active DoD Secret clearance.
Travel Requirements:
- Occasional Travel; 25% or less.
- If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
- Able to sit and work on a computer for long periods of time.
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.

- Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
