  • Develops, implements, and manages Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) program for all equipment.
  • Ensures long-term performance, considering safety, environmental and operational success.
  • Ensures preventative measures are taken to minimize equipment downtime, while improving equipment efficiency and ensuring safe operation.

Responsibilities:

  • Maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) through systematic evaluation and improvement initiatives utilizing established electrical maintenance, reliability, and engineering best practices and processes.
  • Champion and drive optimization of the CMMS to continually improve efficiency and effectiveness of maintenance programs.
  • Identify, develop and leverage internal and external subject matter expertise to drive improvements in maintenance and reliability execution.
  • Develops engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations. These problems include capacity, quality, cost, or regulatory compliance issues. To fulfill this responsibility, the reliability engineer applies:

    • Reliability modeling and prediction
    • Fault tree analysis
    • Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
    • Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
    • Asset criticality and utilization

ELECTRICAL INFRASTRUCTURE (40%)

  • Develop electrical maintenance strategies on distribution equipment that will continually improve overall system availability.
  • Provide technical support for efficient troubleshooting and or problem-solving activities and electrical repair to maximize efficiencies and limit downtime.
  • Set the maintenance strategies and troubleshoot low voltage electrical distribution systems
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) of electrical failures and implement corrective actions
  • Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for electrical assets
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA 70E, NEC, and other relevant electrical safety standards
  • Collaborate with utility providers and internal teams to manage power quality and reliability

INSTRUMENTATION SYSTEMS (50%)

  • Oversee the calibration, maintenance, and reliability of process instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, level, etc.)
  • Support the maintenance team being a technical resource advising on critical spare instrumentation parts, rebuild kits, and instruments.
  • Lead instrumentation upgrades and support commissioning of new equipment
  • Develop documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for instrumentation systems
  • Responsible for best practices in the selection, implementation, and maintenance and reliability of the instrument asset base to ensure that regulatory, production, and optimization objectives are met
  • Serve as instrumentation technical support for both maintenance and operations personnel, including, but not limited to, field instrument and process control troubleshooting support, training documentation and procedure development/review, shutdown support, and Management of Change (MOC) ownership
  • Familiarity with HART communication protocols to configure transmitters and save configuration files.

COMBUSTION BURNER (10%)

  • Monitor and optimize performance of combustion systems used in smelting and refining processes
  • Ensure burner systems meet environmental and safety regulations (e.g., emissions, flame safety)
  • Troubleshoot burner control systems, including flame scanners, actuators, and fuel delivery systems
  • Collaborate with process engineers to improve thermal efficiency and reduce fuel consumption
  • Develop and support electricians on a maintenance strategy for burner combustion components and control valves.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited College or University
  • Previous experience in an industrial electrical engineering role
  • Previous experience using electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP) and control systems (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens)
  • Previous hands-on experience with electrical equipment found in low voltage electrical distribution systems such as: transformers, switch gear, power and molded case circuit breakers, power factor correction, grounding covering systems 120 volt through 13,800 volt, motor control centers, motor control circuits and wiring, VFD, soft starters, electrical protection systems, smart MCCs and relays
  • Previous experience in industrial instrumentation maintenance support such as 24V DC power systems, instrument cabling systems, panels, indicators, field indicators, portable instruments, wireless communications, field measurement and control devices.
  • Previous experience with process instrumentation for flowmeters, level transmitters, temperature transmitters, analyzers, and weighing systems
  • Previous experience in facilitating root-cause analysis and corrective actions
