Overview

Job Summary:

Seeking an exciting opportunity to launch or grow your career? Then Woolpert is seeking you! Interior Designer I is an entry-level position, responsible for assisting in the development of interior design projects of various complexity/scope. An Interior Designer I is primarily responsible, under the guidance and direction of a senior team member, with assisting in developing and delivering successful projects. This position is accountable for the successful completion of assigned tasks, which meet the quality standards of Woolpert and within the allocated budget and timeframe.

We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position. Applicants must already possess work authorization in the country the job is located.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

    Assist in the development of design and technical documentation in various project phases, including the preparation of interior materials, palette and furniture specifications, space planning, interior architecture, and FF&E
  • Utilize hand drawings, sketches and/or software to produce design deliverables.
  • Utilize Autodesk Revit/BIM and other software to produce technical deliverables.
  • Assist in developing project technical specifications and manage client standards.
  • Assist in site surveys and documenting existing conditions.
  • Plan use and layout of space and coordinate interior systems (color, furniture, fixtures, etc.) to ensure compatibility with the design intent.
  • Assist in design strategy, client review meetings and presentations.
  • Assist in coordination efforts with internal/external teams and associated stakeholders.
  • Assist with contract administration duties.
  • Conduct QA/QC on your own project work
  • Maintain a professional attitude, demeanor, and be accountable.

Skills & Proficiencies:

  • Competency in Autodesk Revit, Autodesk AutoCAD, 3D rendering and design software including Lumion, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign with the ability to effectively execute design and technical documentation.
  • Ability to generate plans and elevations and tag furniture and materials accurately
  • Ability to appropriately select and accurately document specifications for furniture and materials
  • Basic understanding of FF&E specifications, millwork detailing, material application and ergonomic standards for furniture
  • Exceptional communications skills including written, verbal, and presentation.
  • Basic understanding of interior materials, codes and standards and how they are applied is preferred
  • Basic understanding of the documentation requirements associated with the development of conceptual design, schematic design, design development and construction document packages is preferred
  • Ability to work independently and participate / collaborate in a project team setting through a digital environment
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple deadlines and priorities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interior Architecture or Interior Design (CIDA accredited program preferred but not required)
  • 1+ years of related experience
  • Actively pursuing NCIDQ or NCARB/AIA certification
  • Competency in Autodesk Revit, Autodesk AutoCAD, 3D rendering and design software, including Lumion, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign
  • Competency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, etc.)

Resulting Physical Qualifications:

  • Must be able to sit/stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to operate and manipulate standard office equipment.
  • Must be able to occasionally reach, bend, climb and/or balance.
  • Must be able to occasionally stoop, kneel, and/or crouch.
  • Must be able to frequently lift and/or move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Must have visual abilities of close vision, distance and color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
