Job Description

Dewberry has an immediate opening for a Natural Resources Team Lead to be based in either our Raleigh, NC or Charlotte, NC offices. This is an excellent career opportunity for an enthusiastic and talented individual to join our team of outstanding professionals.

The Team Lead will supervise natural resources specialists in the Raleigh and Charlotte offices, managing staff workload, supporting employee development, and providing technical management and/or support for a variety of projects. This person will report to the supervisor for Dewberry's North Carolina Environmental Group, which provides natural resources and planning services for clients across North Carolina and the region.

The Team Lead should have knowledge of Waters of the U.S. Delineation and confirmation process, Section 404 and 401 permitting, Threatened and Endangered Species surveys and reporting, and compensatory mitigation. Other skill sets with respect to due diligence work, including Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments and environmental compliance monitoring of development sites is a plus, but not required. Experience with NC Department of Transportation (NCDOT) natural resources surveys and reporting is also a plus, but not required. The job is expected to require both in-office work and fieldwork, leading or assisting with natural resource surveys as needed. Coordination with federal, state, and local regulators is also expected.

Candidates should also have a strong background in supervising staff and technical experts, monitoring budgets, developing project plans, project monitoring, risk assessment, developing a positive working atmosphere, and being client-focused. The position will also support marketing services within the region.

Required Skills & Required Experience

    Bachelor's degree in environmental science or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience preferred, however not required
  • Excellent communication skills, including both oral and written
  • Organizational skills and the ability to perform detail-oriented work are required
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Ability to set priorities
  • Experience managing project budgets
  • Managing client expectations
  • Good working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications, including GIS, MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
