Job Description

As part of the Business Operations team, the Finance and Portfolio Consultant is a pivotal member of the Corporate IT organization, responsible for ensuring effective portfolio management, robust financial planning, and governance across all initiatives. This role oversees the end-to-end reporting, development, and execution of portfolio management policies and processes, coordinates financial forecasts and annual planning, and ensures alignment with company strategies. The Consultant is also accountable for portfolio governance and Jira Align management, driving operational excellence and actionable insights to support leadership decision-making and long-term organizational growth. In this role, the Consultant will support all levels of Corporate IT employees including senior leadership and partner closely with multiple stakeholder teams, notably Finance and Technology Operations.

Essential Functions:

  • Consult on and promote standardized practices for project intake, resource estimation, and compliance with internal and external requirements.
  • Provide training and knowledge transfer sessions to ensure consistent understanding and application of policies and methodologies across the enterprise.
  • Coordinate rolling forecasts and quarterly budget processes, ensuring clarity into committed deals, resource utilization, and alignment with long-term strategic priorities.
  • Assist product owners with execution of technology strategy, keeping a view of the operating expense impact of key decisions
  • Run SQL scripts to extract data from multiple data sources and have ability to normalize data based on product owner feedback
  • Identify expense reduction opportunities with product owners and create plans and tracking to ensure execution of cost reduction strategies.
  • Review demand for new purchases with product owners, validate that the demand aligns with technology strategy and present analytics to compare Visa's usage of similar products within the category
  • Lead the annual operating plan (AOP) process, collaborating with business and technology partners to develop, review, and finalize budgets.
  • Lead cost allocation decision making, utilizing historical data and knowledge of future roadmap needs to allocate and obtain approvals for funding across stakeholder groups
  • Facilitate governance review of spend approval, policy compliance, deal reviews and compliance reporting.
  • Continuously improve processes to reduce manual effort and improve cycle times (e.g., spend approval), increase accountability, and ensure alignment with organizational strategy and Golden Rules metrics.
  • Develop, centralize, and maintain dashboards and reports delivering actionable data-driven insights for all facets of CIT portfolio management, budgeting, and business operations.
  • Provide expertise in integrating portfolio tools like Jira Align with portfolio management processes, ensuring accurate and timely data for decision making.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 5 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelors Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in portfolio management, business operations, or financial planning within a technology or IT organization.
  • Demonstrated success managing multi-million-dollar budgets, developing reporting capabilities, and driving large-scale process improvements.
  • Deep understanding of budget management, annual and rolling forecasts, and capital allocation across OPEX and CAPEX.
  • Proficiency with SQL queries, data analysis and visualization tools a must
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in enterprise portfolio and financial management tools including Jira Align, Excel, and BI platforms.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results across a large, complex portfolio (e.g., 100+ projects, 1,200+ employees).
  • Experience driving compliance and operational excellence through policy redesign and automation.
  • Skilled in delivering clear, concise training and conducting knowledge transfer across departments and leadership levels.

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel5-10% of the time.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 112,100.00 to 162,600.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
