What to Expect
Tesla is seeking a highly driven and detail-oriented Associate Facilities Operations & Maintenance Manager to support and scale 24/7 infrastructure operations in a high-throughput manufacturing environment. This role is critical in bridging day-to-day facility operations, unplanned events, asset lifecycle management, and workforce coordination, while driving system reliability, cost savings, and operational excellence.You'll work cross-functionally with engineers, technicians, vendors, and senior leadership to ensure facilities and utilities systems remain stable, efficient, and scalable to meet Tesla's mission.
What You'll Do
- Lead and coordinate daily operations across HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, compressed air, process gases, and chilled water systems. Ensure uptime, response readiness, and PM execution
- Manage and mentor facilities technicians, operators, and support staff. Own shift coverage planning for 24/7 operations and drive accountability through structured rounds, logs, and training programs
- Oversee logging, triage, and resolution of unplanned events (e.g., alarms, equipment failures). Ensure accurate root cause documentation and corrective action tracking
- Support panel schedules, LOTO tracking, and system energization. Drive adoption of CMMS tools and internal platforms to standardize operations
- Partner with Manufacturing, Construction and Engineering teams to lead facilities handover. Establish preventative maintenance plans and develop system documentation for long-term ownership
- Identify cost-saving opportunities in purchasing, operations, and energy usage. Track and present data-driven outcomes to leadership
- Enforce Tesla's EHS standards, permitting requirements, and contractor controls. Maintain a safety-first culture across all shifts
What You'll Bring
- 7+ years of experience in facilities operations, utilities plant operations, or industrial maintenance; 2+ years in a leadership role
- Hands-on knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems in manufacturing or data center environments
- Strong understanding of maintenance best practices, reliability principles, and regulatory compliance
- Proven ability to manage 24/7 shift operations and coordinate across disciplines
- Proficiency with CMMS, SOPs, Lockout/Tagout procedures, and incident documentation
- Experience with continuous improvement, root cause analysis, and cost reduction strategies
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills; ability to synthesize technical issues for stakeholders at all levels
