About the Role:

The Managing Director, Business Development Executive is a senior individual contributor role responsible for sourcing, evaluating, negotiating, and closing partnership opportunities with fintech platforms, marketplace lenders, and non-bank financial institutions seeking credit sponsorship and loan originations through our banking infrastructure.

This role will play a key role in growing our ecosystem by identifying strategic lending opportunities across consumer and SMB lending verticals while ensuring alignment with regulatory, compliance, and credit risk frameworks. This role requires close coordination with internal stakeholders across compliance, legal, risk, operations, and executive leadership to ensure alignment with the bank's strategic and regulatory objectives. Externally, the Managing Director serves as a primary point of contact for prospective partners, representing the bank with professionalism and strategic insight.

Success in this role depends on the ability to navigate highly complex deal structures, influence decision-making across multiple parties, and maintain a deep understanding of the evolving fintech landscape. The individual must demonstrate strong business acumen, executive presence, and a proven ability to build and manage relationships with senior leaders at high-growth technology companies.

What You Will Do:



  • Leads business development efforts for credit sponsorship, lending bank partnership, and loan origination solutions.
  • Sources and cultivates new relationships with fintech platforms, marketplace lenders, and non-bank originators.
  • Represent Pathward externally at conferences and trade shows to effectively drive business development opportunities to the company.
  • Serves as the primary relationship manager for prospective partners, representing the bank's capabilities, compliance standards, and value proposition.
  • Maintains and grows a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities.
  • Tracks and reports on pipeline activity, deal progress, and key performance metrics to support strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Leads the end-to-end business development process, from initial outreach and qualification through to deal structuring, negotiation, and partner onboarding.
  • Works collaboratively with the Product and Marketing teams to develop creative outreach strategies to attract partners.
  • Maintains deep knowledge of the fintech lending landscape, regulatory environment, and credit sponsorship models.
  • Identify market trends and inform internal strategy on new verticals and emerging partnership opportunities.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to internal teams by providing voice-of-customer insights and prospect feedback.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on the long-term growth strategy.
  • Other duties as assigned.


What You Will Need:



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and work experience.
  • 8+ years' experience in fintech business development, capital markets, banking partnerships, or marketplace lending
  • Deep understanding of credit sponsorship models, fintech loan origination frameworks, and embedded finance
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills, both internally and externally
  • Highly motivated and results driven
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized is essential
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate and close complex partnerships

Salary range: $104,000- $174,000

The salary range reflects the minimum and maximum target for a new hire in this role. Individual pay within the range will be determined by multiple factors which can include but are not limited to a candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, and location. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary for your location during the hiring process. Ranges may be modified in the future.
