Staff Accountant

Job Summary

The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial records, performing general ledger account reconciliations, assisting with month-end and year-end close processes, and ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. This role supports the finance team in delivering timely and accurate financial reporting.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger entries in accordance with GAAP.
  • Reconcile bank statements and other balance sheet accounts monthly.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings.
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation records.
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes as needed.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing supporting documentation.
  • Analyze financial data and report on variances to budget or forecast.
  • Assist in the development and documentation of business processes and accounting policies.
  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested by management.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 2+ years of accounting experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Proficiency with accounting software
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP, PivotTables).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA candidate or certification a plus.
  • Experience in construction accounting
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and automated accounting tools.
