Senior Network Engineer This position requires an active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance. A senior network engineer designs, implements, and maintains an organization's network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability. Responsibilities include network design, security implementation, monitoring, troubleshooting, documentation, capacity planning, and mentorship of junior engineers. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice. Senior Network Engineer Responsibilities Include:
- TCP/IP transport network design and engineering, network routing protocols, advanced virtual networking technologies
- Performing upgrades and performing routine network operations and maintenance (O&M).
- Identifying and implementing INFOSEC and COMSEC security requirements for the network.
- Complex configuration management techniques and requirements for managing network systems.
- Network operating and maintenance concepts and methods used to troubleshoot network problems for LAN, WAN, VPN, SD-WAN and VoIP.
- Cisco IOS, including switching, routing, segment routing and other technologies.
- Radio Frequency (RF) and spectrum engineering.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Senior Network Engineer Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
- Must possess an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance.
- A bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
- A minimum six (6) years of relevant experience with one or more of the following skills:
- Providing technical guidance and direction for TCP/IP transport network design and engineering, network routing protocols, and advanced virtual networking technologies.
- Establishing overall strategic network standards and priorities.
- Analyzing the optimization of network system performance.
- Overseeing the strategic interface of network systems configuration.
- Assessing network engineering technologies, computing systems, and hardware and software protocols.
- Providing high-level technical advice and guidance to managers and technical resources on network technologies to meet current and future organizational needs.
- Identifying INFOSEC and COMSEC security requirements for the network.
- Cisco IOS, including switching, routing, segment routing, and other technologies.
- Radio Frequency (RF) and spectrum engineering.
- Optical networking technology and engineering.
- Satellite communications engineering.
- Full time onsite
- Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
Senior Network Engineer Preferred Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
TS/SCI with polygraph Experience with a variety of network technologies and solution architectures. Broad understanding of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the networking field. Knowledge of state-of-the-art systems engineering principles and network design concepts. In-depth knowledge of MPLS, TCP/IP, VPN, and IP telephony. Full working knowledge of the OSI model, routing protocols, and their application to router configurations. Experience working within a multi-vendor network security environment. Experience with routing design, techniques, and protocols such as BGP. In-depth understanding of peering, QoS, and traffic engineering. Cloud experience with AWS (VPC, transit gateway, private link, ELB, etc.), Azure (connectivity services - Vnet, virtual WAN, VPN gateway, application protection, application delivery, network monitoring, etc.) Knowledge of required security best practices for firewalls and perimeter security measures including VPN technologies. Continuous integration, test automation, and/or SecDevOps on iterative development projects. Experience with Agile Development methodologies.
