Verisign is seeking a Senior Manager to join our Infrastructure and Services team. This is a senior technical position with high visibility and cross-functional responsibility. Successful applicants must demonstrate superior interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, negotiation, and prioritization skills.

In this role, you will be pivotal in coordinating activities across various teams to meet both business and technical objectives, ensuring high-quality and timely delivery. You will work with engineering, operations, security, finance, and business teams to define strategies, manage metrics, and maintain consistency. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise, effective communications, and demonstrate a strong commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:



  • Management: Managing, developing, and growing a team of Site Reliability Engineers. Guiding technology decisions and ensuring alignment with team goals. Fostering innovation to build a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Operational Leadership:Serving as the primary point of contact for day-to-day Platform Services, ensuring smooth and efficient team performance.
  • Process Improvement:Finding opportunities for process improvement and automation to lower operational risks and cost.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborating with customers to improve communication, support informed decision making, and ensure alignment of goals.
  • Service Level Metrics:Defining, implementing, and monitoring service level metrics for critical services across shared infrastructure services.
  • Incident Management:Overseeing the analysis and resolution of critical incidents, conducting thorough postmortems to prevent future occurrences and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Compliance: Acting as the primary contact for implementing and maintaining security compliance and controls, including vulnerability identification and remediation. Ensure compliance with all VeriSign policy and standards.
  • Benchmark Configurations: Ensuring secure benchmark configurations are developed, implemented, and maintained across all critical systems and services.
  • Technology Research: Researching and evaluating new technologies to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Strategic Planning: Providing input and support for long-term strategic planning initiatives, aligning with organizational goals.
  • Finance Management: Managing Platform Services budget, financial planning, and life-cycle management to ensure optimized cost and resource utilization. Providing research for business cases as the foundation for executive decisions.
  • Documentation: Developing and maintaining comprehensive documentation for processes, procedures, and configurations. Providing detailed analysis and explanation of data for senior leadership.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitoring and analyzing system/service performance to ensure system reliability and improve customer experience.
  • Capacity Planning: Conducting capacity planning to ensure infrastructure can meet current and future demands.
  • Vendor Management: Collaborating with vendors and service providers to ensure optimal service delivery and support.


Requirements:



  • Bachelors' degree in Computer Science/Engineering required, or equivalent work experience
  • 12+ years of progressively responsible experience in IT infrastructure and operations
  • Experience managing internal services that support externally facing critical products
  • Excellent communications skills, experienced at peer level and 2-3 levels up
  • Comfortable presenting to and influencing senior and executive leadership
  • Effective collaboration and ability to lead teams of people toward organizational goals.
  • Highly adaptable, able to juggle multiple priorities
  • Self-motivated and driven to produce high-quality results
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage cross-functional teams
  • Strong knowledge of security compliance and control frameworks
  • Expertise in infrastructure & application services management
  • Experience with incident management and resolution
  • Proficiency in research and evaluation of new technologies
  • Experience driving cost savings & optimizing operational efficiencies
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities, driving issues to resolution
  • Proficiency creating quality executive documentation with tight timelines
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage automation, scripting, or code to reduce overhead
  • Deep knowledge of technology and ability to manage vendor relationships
  • Working knowledge of budget planning and reporting transparency


Preferred Skills:



  • Experience running and/or managing Applications on Kubernetes Platform, Docker, Ansible, HashiCorp Vault, Consul, Terraform, Guardicore, Prometheus, Syslog, Fluentd, Telegraph, InfluxDB, Grafana, Netcool, Nagios, DNS, and NTP services
  • Working knowledge of enterprise tools such as Service Now, Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, GitHub, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with cloud platforms and virtualization technologies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to balance diverse requests from multiple areas and levels of management


This position is based in our Reston, VA office and offers a hybrid work schedule.

The pay range is $164,300- $222,300.

The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is noted above, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience. Verisign offers a discretionary bonus which is based on individual and company performance, and certain roles may be eligible for discretionary stock awards.
