Position Description


ABC Companies' nine (9) world-class facilities routinely deliver service excellence and feature the latest diagnostic tools and state-of-the-art fabrication systems designed to cover a comprehensive range of transit bus, motorcoach and RV service and repair. In addition to a full line of diesel and gas commercial vehicle products ranging from vans to luxury buses, ABC is also a leader in fully electric commercial vehicles.


Title: HR Generalist Position

Location: Newark, CA

Reports To: Human Resources Director

Job Type: Full-Time / On-site

Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000 annually


Position Overview:

ABC Companies is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented HR Generalist to oversee human resources operations.

Reporting directly to the Director of Human Resources, this role plays a critical part in ensuring California employment law compliance and maintaining consistent HR practices across the organization. In addition to supporting Colorado and California-specific HR needs, this individual will be part of a larger Florida based HR department and may be asked to support other HR related tasks and duties outside of the primary location responsibilities.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Serve as the primary HR contact for California and Colorado employees, managing employee relations, compliance, onboarding/offboarding, and day-to-day support.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of and ensure compliance with state and federal employment laws, including wage and hour laws, leave entitlements, and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate on sensitive employment matters, investigations, accommodations, and regulatory inquiries.
  • Provide guidance and training for any required or developmental plans outlined for managers and employees.
  • Support the development and improvement of onboarding and compliance processes across all locations.
  • Assist and partner with the Director of Human Resources on workers' compensation and risk, helping to provide oversight on claims, reporting, return-to-work programs, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Participate in policy development and help ensure consistent application of HR practices company wide.
  • Provide general HR Support across all ABC locations.



Qualifications & Skills:


  • 3+ years of progressive HR experience in California.
  • In-depth knowledge of labor regulations.
  • Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field (HR certification preferred: SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR).



Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience supporting a multi-location or multi-state workforce.
  • Experience with workers' compensation and risk management.
  • Background in safety or OSHA compliance programs.
  • Experience working with legal teams on employment-related issues.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
