About the Role

The Actuarial Support Group (ASG) Consultant collaborates with client delivery teams to support defined compensation calculations and projects. This role involves independent work with peer review, interpreting complex DB requirements, consulting with clients, and proficiency in Excel and coding principles. The position requires knowledge of DB regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Having the ability to perform manual defined benefit calculations and create/maintain calculation tools in Excel.

  • Addressing questions related to complex situations, participant inquiries, client escalations, and participant calculations in regard to defined benefits.

  • Consulting with clients on a variety of actuarial concepts and facilitate interactions with third party actuaries, plan sponsors, ERISA counsel, and client finance department contacts.

  • Consulting with clients and client teams on how new legislation would impact their plans' calculation methodology.

  • Executing large scale calculation projects and write complex plan requirements.

  • Consulting with internal colleagues, clients, and third parties to resolve issues or differences related to actuarial concepts.

  • Creating actuarial factors and factor tables. This sometimes involves determining a factor's formula based on the stream of payments.

Requirements

  • Have effective communication skills on domain and technical matters, internally and externally.

  • Have proven analytical abilities and attention to detail when working with complex data.

  • Have a solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to report data to stakeholders.

  • Have expertise in actuarial principles and relevant systems.

  • Have proficiency in Excel, including the ability to create complex calculation spreadsheets and utilize advanced Excel functions.

  • Have advanced management and organizational skills with the ability to adapt to change.

  • Have some experience in VBA for Excel to automate and enhance actuarial calculations and processes.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, finance, or equivalent work experience.

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in actuarial services or related fields.

  • Ability to learn through formal and on-the-job training.

Salary Pay Range

Minimum :

96,200.00 USD

Maximum :

190,000.00 USD
